Sunday 29 March. PALMS SUNDAY. Anthem after Compline: Ave regina celorum.
Monday 30. Feria II in Palms Week. Sub tuum presidium.
Tuesday 31. Feria III in Palms Week. O florens rosa.
Wednesday 1 April. Feria IV in Palms Week. Rogamus te.
Thursday 2. FERIA V IN THE LORD'S SUPPER.
Friday 3. THE PREPARATION.
Saturday 4. HOLY SATURDAY: THE PASCHAL VIGIL.
The combined office of Matins and Lauds, commonly called Tenebrae, is celebrated (1) on Holy Thursday, (2) "in the night of the preparation", and (3) on Holy Saturday. That description of Good Friday Tenebrae suggests that the office was sung on the previous evening, as was (and sometimes is) the custom elsewhere. Holy Saturday continues until None on Saturday; the rites of the Paschal vigil (the blessing of the candle, the prophecies, and first Mass of Easter) follow immediately.
There is no Marian antiphon after Compline during the sacred triduum.
Saint Ambrose, bishop, whose feast is normally kept on 4 April with semidouble rite, is not commemorated this year.
